Imagine sitting in front your computer screen while wearing a headset that allows you to make your next chess move with your mind rather than your mouse. A company named Jedi Mind, Inc. is producing software that will work with wireless headsets that scan your brain waves enabling you to play games or control applications with your thoughts. Are you excited about that? Star Wars creator George Lucas isn't, and after sending the company cease-and-desist letters which didn't bring the desired results, he's decided to sue Jedi Mind, Inc. for $5 million dollars claiming trademark violation.
George Lucas has a point. All Star Wars fans can tell you that the words "Jedi" and "mind" immediately bring to mind Jedi knights and the Jedi mind trick featured in Star Wars films. You would think that if Jedi Mind is a company that is innovative enough to come with something as exciting as thought reading software that they would be clever enough to come up with their own name.
