Internet Explorer 9 Beta Released - IE9 Beta Available for Download Now

Microsoft released Internet Explorer 9 Beta today for Windows 7 and Windows Vista users. This version has been streamlined with unneccesary buttons and controls removed and the fresh and uncluttered browser is being hailed as speedy by Preston Gralla at Computerworld. Gralla gave IE9 beta a test run on a Dimension 9200 using Windows Vista and has provided a very comprehensive review.

A nice feature is one that is similar to Safari 4's handy feature. When you open a new tab, a screen appears showing thumbnails of the sites you visit most so that you can go directly to them.

In the video below you'll see the feature that allows you to "pin" sites that you visit frequently to the task bar just by clicking the browser tab and dragging it.

All in all it looks like Internet Explorer 9 beta is being well received. You can download the new browser which is available in thirty three languages now.

IE9 already? I had to take IE8 off my home PC but that must have been in its early buggy stages.

I try to avoid IE as much as possible. It is the least useful of the browsers I have on my machine.

My last PC (hopefully) I still have and am phasing out ... it runs XP. I used to use Windows and PCs religiously, now i have just had enough.

Have you tried it yet. This scares me they release stuff that doesn't work right and I get screwed.

I have vista and it's asking me to choose either 32 bit or 64 bit I don't even know what that means. Which should I choose?

If it's the operating system type they want and I think it is, you should be able to get the answer by clicking on your Control Panel and going to System. It gives all kinds of information, including System Type.

Well I did download it and already I don't understand the pinning thing. They show how it works but not for me it doesn't. My kid is coming home this weekend from college so I'll have him show me.

I have to admit that when I read that IE 9 Beta is ready, my first reaction was less than enthusiastic. I avoid using IE due to it's clunkiness and security issues. I only keep it because there are some websites, like the Windows Updates that insist on it. But I am very interested in this version. It seems to be like Chrome, which is very fast. I like not having all the clutter on the top of the browser. I will wait to try it until it has been out of beta and running for a while, though. This is the first promising IE I've ever seen!!
