Skype is kicking off Internet Week Europe by giving free WiFi access to everyone in the UK through November 12. Internet Week Europe will last five days, during which more than 100 events celebrating internet organizations and technology will happen in and around London.
In order to access the free WiFi, users will need to make sure they are at a WiFi hotspot and also make sure they have the latest version of Skype for Windows or Mac.
Technology giants such as Google and Yahoo! are hosting several events and even the BBC is getting involved. BBC Worldwide announced on Monday morning that it has made its two most popular iPhone apps, Lonely Planet and the BBC Good Food Health Recipes app, free of charge for the week.

This is the first time Europe has ever hosted an Internet Week. The concept began in the US in 2008. The aim of the five-day Internet Week is to raise the profile of Europe’s digital industry.
Last week, UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, presented plans for London’s East End to become a center of technological innovation that will rival the famous Silicon Valley.
There are many events to attend and check out across the UK this week. You can see the full list here.
Internet Week Europe is a smart way to get everyone involved in using the interent and other technology that some people may be afraid to use. Some of the older generations are skeptical about using the internet or don't know how, so hopefully during this week these people will be able to check out all of the wonderful things that technology has brought to the world.
