As the news of Sony PlayStation Network staying down continues on May 6, 2011, the latest PSN back online updates continue. Frustrated members of the service are hoping for a restoration of service as early as Friday in some regions.
As of this report, Sony PlayStation Network is still down at 1:23 PM EST. In a May 6th update reported by Jessica Lauren of Wager Run, she notes that Sony has not given any clear deadline or timeframe of when the PSN will be back online. The problem has now lasted for two weeks, and has members pulling out their hair, or taking out their offline frustrations on video game enemies.
The latest update at PlayStation blog isn't much clearer on any sort of definitive time for members to be back online. Howard Stringer, chairman and chief executive of Sony, notes "In the coming days, we will restore service to the networks and welcome you back to the fun." One has to question what Stringer's definition of "fun" is. It certainly doesn't include weeks of down time without one's favorite online gaming scenarios.
It's apparent that Sony is being extra-cautious over this entire matter. They were clearly unprepared for the cyber hack and its resulting consequences. So the time-consuming task has a pay off for those who are patient, even stock traders. As of this report, Sony Corporation stock is actually up +0.29, but with the PlayStation Network back online and better security in place, it may be even more attractive to investors.
For now, customers can only wait, playing offline versions of their favorite games until the PSN service is finally restored.

The only thing that really bugs me is how angry some people are getting about it, it's ridiculous. Some people are demanding they receive payment and compensation for lost time, but if you're not paying for something any other time then why should they pay YOU when you can't access it? If you have a paid account, yes, I could understand reimbursement for not being able to access that since you're paying for a service you're not getting, but there is no such thing as compensation for a free account and it's just stupid that some people are trying to grub money from this situation.
Hopefully it will be back up soon, though. If we had the money, we would definitely buy stocks because it fell a lot through this whole ordeal and it'll actually be a pretty good investment to make some cash because once the store's back up the stock will start rising again.
I Am not looking for any compensation at all, since I only own 3 games for my PS3 and hardly ever go online.I mostly play online on my 360,but if I wer to purchase or pre-order a game with major online features to play that week or two and psn was down,I would be very unhappy. The matter here is,they should have planned ahead in making thier service safe and set a downtime for the fix. This "fix it when it is broke" is not something any law system takes lightly.
I would never press this matter, since as I have already said that I don't mind the downtime, but I am sure there are a few angery folks that might. If it got that ugly and I am sure Sony would not let it get there,it could be bad news for thier company.
Yeah, the freakin guys were cutting down a tree in my yard and disrupted my Sat-dish and I was out of TV for a few days so I decided to contact my freebie Nexflix and signed up, unknowing it wouldn't sync up unless I was signed into the PSN. I signed up a day after the Network went down. The next day I called Netflix and told them I wanted an extension due to the PSN was down and didn't know I had to sign in to PSN to start using my Nexflix account. Long story short they gave me that extension!
So Bonnie... You contact Netflix and tell them you want a prorated rate before you get billed for a service that you can't even use. In my minds eye I think it shall be going on 3 weeks now!
