Torchwood fans will have a new way to interact with the series when it returns on Starz in July. It's a motion comic called "Torchwood: Web of Lies" and it will include the voices of John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Buffy and Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku.
In "Torchwood: Web of Lies," you'll learn about a day that Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper have both forgotten about. What happened on that day is what sends Holly Mokri (Dushku) on a treasure hunt that will help her uncover the secrets of Miracle Day.
The app, which will be available through iTunes, is made up of 10, 3-minute motion comics. Motion comics combine the artistry of comic books with voice and action, to create a more dynamic experience for the reader. You'll be able to download the first comic on July 7, a day before the premiere of Torchwood: Miracle Day on Starz.
A new download will be available each week, timed with the release of each new episode. There is also a game component, and though the story in the app is different from the series story, you'll find clues in the TV show that will help you in the game.
The app sounds like a fun way to keep the show going between weeks. Unfortunately, it's not free. The app sells for .99 for each pack of three parts, or you can pay $2.99 up front for the full bundle of 10. Not expensive, but seeing as it's basically an advertisement for the series, it shouldn't come with any kind of price tag at all.
