Activision allowed a sneak preview of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer Spec Ops mode at the Gamescom video game show this week. The previewed mission puts players into a situation just like the Oscar-winning movie The Hurt Locker.
The Spec Ops mode allows gamers to play by themselves or as a team of two while fighting enemies and completing goals. "Invisible Threat" is the name of the level shown at Gamescom. One player sticks to high ground with a sniper rifle and navigates a Predator drone missile around the map to gather information and find bombs. The other player wears a massive bomb suit for protection and travels on the ground, defusing eight bombs hidden around the map.
As if the bombs weren't enough to worry about, this Modern Warfare 3 mission forces you to battle many soldiers, along with tanks and helicopters as you move from one bomb to the next.
As a tribute a previous game in the Call of Duty series, the bomb suit worn in this mission looks like the Juggernaut suit worn by enemies in the Spec Ops mode of Modern Warfare 2.
The previewed mission is only one of many Spec Ops missions that will be found in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. We will learn more information as we get closer to the November 8th release date.
