The iPhone 5 release date saga is nearly over. Word is Best Buy is set to take pre-orders this week, followed by an October launch, while Sprint is the choice carrier.
Okay, fasten your seatbelts; there's going to be turbulence along the way. No, this is not an ode to Prince using his "Do Me Baby" lyrics. Instead, it's the news you've been waiting for, or at least part of it -- if there's any merit to the latest leak.
The good old folks at Boy Genius Report (BGR) claim that an insider from Best Buy (shame, but thanks) shared an internal proprietary document that signals a lunch of the coveted smart phone -- like soon, according to an update in the report.
It goes that Apple is gearing up the electronics retailer for preorders this week ahead of an October iPhone 5 release date. However, no information was available that hinted what that actual date is.
What's more, Sprint is supposed to be the carrier of choice. Now this makes sense since the government, AT&T and T-Mobile are in the midst of an antitrust party that does not sit well for Apple's CEO Tim Cook and company.
But hold on to your horses. The fine print in the so-called leaked document says that all dates from any internal launch about preorders is "subject to change".
Holy delay, Batman! It appears that while this information is comforting, it still falls short of the drop dead iPhone 5 release date. Still, the darn thing appears to be on its way.
Hopefully, the IOS 5, tricked out camera, 4-inch screen, and 4G speed through Sprint's CDMA technology is packed in that bad boy.
Stay tuned for any updates by becoming a fan on Twitter or Facebook after the jump.
