As the news hit of an iPhone 4S release date instead of an iPhone 5 release date, disappointed Apple fans may now be looking elsewhere. At least one smartphone product, the Samsung Galaxy S2, may enjoy a sales boost from the recent news.
The Apple iPhone 5 rumors will likely continue into 2012. While many were hoping for the announcement of an iPhone 5 with all sorts of great new bells and whistles, and a great operating system, they got a newer version of iPhone 4 instead. According to Christian Post, three companies could benefit from Apple's recent news. These include HTG, LG Electronics and Samsung.
Kim Young-chan, an analyst at Shinhan Investment Corp in Seoul, commented on the situation saying:
"Major concerns for Samsung had been that its smartphone momentum will decelerate with Apple's new iPhone, but that's now less of a concern as the new iPhone failed to excite many."
Customers looking for a new mobile smartphone may find the Samsung Galaxy S2 specs and features are more accommodating for them than the new iPhone. These include storage expansion with a MicroSD card slot, something the new iPhone lacks. The Samsung is also Android-based, giving customers a way to turn their noses up at Apple.
Apple has announced the integration of Siri a new voice command based system for the iPhone, but this is something smartphones have as well. When all is said and done, angry customers may find that the Samsung Galaxy SII smartphone is the best choice for them, or they'll sit on their hands until Apple gets the iPhone 5 release date announced.
