Is Apple trading glass for metal? That's the new rumor which has surfaced in relation to the anticipated launch of the next Apple smartphone! Though many of the iPhone 5 release date rumors are laughable, a lot of debate and prediction has gone into the type of screen the gadget will have.
As soon as the 3D screen rumor took off for the Internet rumor mill, another screen rumor began... again. According to a recent article, the 6th generation Apple smartphone will possibly sport a Liquidmetal display.
A recent article states a Liquidmetal iPhone 5 would allow for a thinner and lighter device which would also resist impact damage. Apple snagged the rights to Liquidmetal Technologies in 2010, but there has been no confirmation showing Apple is planning to use the technology for the iPhone 5 release date. Though it sounds like a great idea! After all, how many people are constantly dropping or scratching their smartphones? Something resistant to damage sounds enticing.
True to Apple fashion, the device has yet to be confirmed. Usually Apple keeps things under lock and key, then unveils their new "toy" for the world to see a few weeks before it's planned launch day. However, there are reports the iPhone 5 release date will be revealed in mid June at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
While many Apple fans may keep hoping for June, a September or October launch seems more likely.
