As the Kindle Fire 2 release date is anticipated to arrive within the coming months, Amazon already has a hot item on its hands. The original version of their tablet has recently become the top seller of all Android tablets on the market.
When the new Kindle Fire 2 will arrive is still a mystery, but things are certainly looking good for Amazon with their first entry into the market. A report from Arstechnica indicates that the Amazon Kindle Fire accounted for 54 percent of all Android tablet sales, as of the end of February. The Samsung Galaxy Tab family comes in second with 15% of market share, which is a drop from its 23% share in December.
This latest news also comes as other Android manufacturers are getting into the smaller, budget-friendly tablet game. Samsung has in fact launched the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 which retails for just $250. There's been rumors of an Apple iPad mini tablet coming to the market as well as some other new third party vendors introducing their own smaller handheld tablet devices.
With that in mind, Amazon is said to be preparing the new Kindle Fire 2. Reports have indicated that this device could see a release date as early as this Summer, with the new product coming at least before the big Christmas holiday shopping season. The question will be if Amazon can bring enough upgraded features and a better operating system environment to go with their new device, or if Apple will be ready to take over.
