Today Internet users will see the Keith Haring Google Doodle on the search providers homepage, instead of their normal logo. The Internet company has become known for their clever designs which are often put in place to honor a notable person or event.
Today's recipient of one of popular drawings for the search provider is artist and social activist Keith Haring. Haring was credited as having shaped the look of the 1980s with his art, some of which is on display at Brooklyn Museum until July 8th, 2012—a treat for fans of the late artists earlier work. The Google Doodle today honors the late Haring on what would have been his 54th birthday.
Haring initially gained attention with his chalk drawings in the New York subway system and later began exhibiting his work in galleries. From the subway to galleries? A true talent, who worked his way up and achieved much success in such a short time.
Keith Haring was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on May 4, 1958, and passed away in 1990, at 31 years old, from complications due to AIDS. The Keith Haring Google Doodle will replace the search engines normal logo for the entire day.
