iPhone 5 release date rumors and news reveal Verizon CFO hinted about a "big smartphone" launch in the 4th quarter. Apple fans believe the handset mentioned was the most highly anticipated smartphone for 2012 -- the iPhone 5. However, it is possible the handset being referred to is not the rumored Apple gadget, but another device altogether.
Verizon's Chief Financial Officer could have referred to an unannounced Android handset. After all, Verizon Wireless has had a lot of success with major Android smartphone launches on their wireless 4G LTE network in the past year. Regardless it gives Apple publicity related to the iPhone 5 release date, and they surely don't mind stealing some of Android's intended glory.
The 6th generation Apple smartphone launch rumors have spanned from June through October of this year, but still Apple has not confirmed anything about a new smartphone model. Additional rumors say it is possible the iOS 6 smartphone will be called simply the "New iPhone," but since Apple is so secretive with their new products it is isn't known for sure what the device will be called, or when the exact release date will be.
