One report looks at how Jelly Bean could be a game changer for the newest devices, as they get an upgraded operating system capable of taking things to the next level against Apple.
Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols of ComputerWorld.com believes that the newest Android tablets will offer serious competition for Apple's iPad. That includes the Google Nexus 7, the brand new Barnes & Noble Nook, and the latest Kindle Fire tablets. All of these should offer stunning upgrades in terms of technology, display, speed and compatibility with other devices.
Vaughan-Nichols says when it was just the iPad alone in the tablet market, there was no real competition. However, now that Android-based tablets like the Fire are getting better, smaller and cheaper, customers are flocking towards those units in lieu of Apple's devices. It may be an aversion for Apple products, or being comfortable with their current computer or smartphone operating system and wanting a similar tablet.
So Android 4.1, aka "Jelly Bean", could be a true savior once the Kindle Fire 2 release date arrives. It will offer a better piece of technology for consumers packaged inside the latest Amazon tablet. Amazon has been looking to upgrade their digital media offerings as well, so they are clearly looking to bring their "A-game" to the tablet marketplace. It'll be interesting to see a year from now, which of the Android-based tablets are receiving the best sales numbers, and which are being talked about in terms of needing serious upgrades.
