Twitter Announces Brand New Profile Pages

Six years and millions of tweets later, Twitter is getting a bit of a makeover. They have just announced a new change happening to member profile pages that is said to be different and exciting. On the Today Show this morning, CEO Dick Costolo revealed that the new profiles will now bring more photos and personality through visual effects that are very similar to the set-up of Facebook pages.

According to Costolo, the

new profiles will use photos to help people get to know each other a little better. The changes include an image that runs along the top of the page, while your avatar will be placed right in the center for everyone to see right away. The photo stream is larger and more prominent as well. You can still upload a background photo as always.

The Today Show and their anchors have all changed over to the new profile, as well as "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. You can opt in right now to gets yours switched over. Just like Facebook's recent Timeline pages, Twitter users will have to make the switch eventually. If this is not your cup of tea, you will most likely will have a few months before you are forced into changing over.
