Over the holiday, Randi Zuckerberg fell victim to her brother's new Facebook privacy policy that went into place on Friday. The Zuckerberg family was caught in a photo over dramatizing the new Poke application for the popular social network. While all the family in the photo was tagged in the photo that was set to her private time line, it soon found it's way onto the page of Vox Media marketing director Callie Schweitzer. Callie has over 40,000 friends and followers that soon got to see the photo as well because of the new policy that allows friends and followers of friends also see private photos.
Randi asked Callie how she got the photo and while the marketing director apologized profusely, she also said that she got the photo because she is friends with one of the people tagged in the photo. the apology was accepted but Randi did say that she is sketched out about her private photos being news. Users of the social networking site are hoping that this experience will bring light to the lacking security in the new policy.
Unfortunately for Randi Zuckerberg and her not wanting her personal photos to become news, that is exactly what happened when the photo came up on Callie Schweitzer's Twitter. Buzzfeed picked up the photo and shared it then several news feeds also shared after that. There has been no more comment on the issue and no statement as to whether Mark Zuckerberg will be changing Facebook privacy policies again or not.
